Here, you will learn How to Optimize Shopify Products for E-commerce Marketing and make products visible on Google, Facebook, and Instagram sales channels.

In 2021 assigning product categories to each item was not necessary for your products to sync to Google. Now on 2022, the game has changed. But Team Momentum has your back so you can crush online sales and reach.

With new market trends and Google cracking down on offering the most accurate information, it is important to stay up to date. More importantly, the more sales channels your products are available on, the merrier.

Each sales channel has its own market, demographics, psychographics etc. And each one provides a unique opportunity to increase product reach of new potential consumers. Here, you will learn here how to sync your Shopify Catalog to Make Your Shopify Products Shoppable on Google.

Google’s Merchant Center requires you now to select a Google product category along with other details from Shopify’s product page, so your catalog syncs.

Any product missing this category and fields will no longer appear on Google Searches, on Facebook, Instagram Shop, or on your Google My Business Listing.

So let’s fix that issue so your products are visible to a much bigger audience, available to Shop on Google, and therefore, increase sales.

Make Sure You have Google’s Sales Channel Installed in Your Shopify Store

When you set up the Google channel on Shopify for the first time, all of the products that are available to your online store are automatically synced with Google Merchant Center.

You can change the availability of a product manually or in bulk for several products.

To set up Shopify’s Google sales channel, you need to have a Google account and a Google Merchant Center account. Follow these steps to set up Google Sales Channel:

Google Merchant Center is a tool that helps you upload your store and product data to Google and make them available for Google Smart Shopping campaigns and other Google services. – Google Merchant Center.

A Google Merchant Center account needs to be associated with a verified domain. That domain cannot be associated with another Google account. This is important if you want to Optimize Shopify Products for E-commerce Marketing.

Store Requirements for Google Sales Channel on Shopify

To use the Google channel, you need to make sure that your online store meets the Google Merchant Center requirements:

  • You need a Shopify online store, and your store can’t be password-protected.
  • You need to add a valid payment provider in your Shopify admin.
  • You need to add a Refund Policy and Terms of Service to your online store.
  • You need to add your contact information to a page in your online store, and the information needs to be visible to customers.
  • You need to include at least 2 contact methods.

Product Requirements for Google’s Merchant Center

Providing product category information can help customers browse and search for your store’s products on Instagram and Facebook. It can increase your store’s discoverability, and help improve your ad performance.

In order to optimize Shopify Products for E-commerce Marketing, Google requires specific information about your products before you can publish them on Google. The Google channel imports your existing product data from Shopify, but you might need to add some additional information before you can sync products with Google Merchant Center.

Most products only need the following information added:

While other products also require additional details:

  • Gender
  • Age Group
  • Condition

Google has specific requirements for the following categories:

  • Apparel & accessories
  • Media
  • Books

Product options, including variants, need to be in English to sync with Google.

Google Product Category

To make sure that your products are categorized accurately on Google, you should add a Google Product Category to products.

Google has specific requirements for products that are in the Apparel & accessories, Media, or Books Google Product Categories. When you select a category for a product in the Google channel, you need to add this additional product information.

Read Google’s guide to product categories to learn more.

Unique product identifiers

Google requires you to have a unique product identifier for each of your products.

If these identifiers aren’t correct, then Google doesn’t publish your products and your account could be suspended. Learn more about unique product identifiers from Google Merchant Center Help.

If a product has a GTIN (Global Trade Item Number), then you need to add it before you can publish the product.

For products without a GTIN, you need to add an MPN (Manufacturer Part Number) and brand to the product data in the Google channel. Some categories allow for “custom product”, and in some cases, these do not need a GTIN nor MPN.

Edit Products and Add Categories to Optimize Shopify Products for E-commerce Marketing

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Google.
  2. On the Overview page, go to the Product feed section.
  3. Besides a product status, click the link to view your synced products in a bulk editor.
  4. Click Edit Google fields.
  5. Optional: If your product doesn’t have a GTIN or MPN because it’s a custom product, then check This is a custom product.
  6. Optional: In the Product categorization section, add a Google Product Category.
  7. Optional: Add custom labels for Age, Gender, or Condition.
  8. Click Save.

You can also edit each product individually by clicking “Manage” on the sales channels for that item.

Having all your products available on sales channels like Google, will increase visibility, reach, sessions and conversions. You will be able to tag products from your catalog on ads, Facebook, and Instagram posts. Your audience will be able to shop your products directly from their Facebook feed, your Instagram Shop, or from Google My Business.

So, if you want to step up your online store’s game by increasing reach and sales, it is important to learn How to Optimize Shopify Products for E-commerce Marketing. Now, you products will be available to tag and shop on main channels like Google, Instagram, and Facebook.

Guest post by Téa Liarokapi

At this stage, I’m pretty sure you’ve already decided on the course of action you’re going to follow as a marketer when it comes to your marketing plan. And for sure, that includes current email marketing strategies to boost your efforts.

Of course, when we’re talking about a marketing strategies, we’re talking about everything it could entail. From PPCs to paid ads on social media and from a successful competitor analysis to SEO, you cannot omit the power that an email marketing strategy holds. And here’s why:

2022 email marketing strategies for small business

Email marketing is the most cost-effective and fruitful channel. But in an era when consumers are a little too suspicious of marketing messages, how can you make your email marketing strategies work?

Set Your Goals First

Assuming that you know your audience and how to reach out to them, the first thing you need to do would be to set your goals.
Your email marketing goals should be SMART, as in

smart goals momentum digital blog layznezoe@gmail.com marketing strategies 2022

So, how are you going to create goals that will help you grow your business through 2022 email marketing strategies?

First of all, have a specific and attainable target in mind, and always go for something you can measure. After all, marketers can’t know exactly what they need to do to succeed without a specific target in mind.

So, set up specific targets for your email marketing strategy and start creating marketing actions around that. Target specific leads for your email list, use email marketing templates that will do your goals justice, and measure after each marketing action.

If, for example, you want to increase your eCommerce store’s sales, you would need to break this goal down into more specific actions that can benefit your business. Aiming for a better CLTV is as much of an increase in sales as a higher percentage in one-time sales.

So, it would help if you were very clear and concise in terms of goals and what growth means to your business and your product specifically.

Generally speaking, your goals are not supposed to have a financial impact – not a direct one, at least. Email open rates, for example, are essential. However, they are not a direct indicator of financial growth.

The main point when setting your goals is for you to understand what makes sense for your brand and your customers and how to create email content that will make sense to you and your customers.

So, what led you to use email marketing in the first place? And how do your recipients interact with marketing messages delivered straight in their inbox? Are your leads enough to help you grow your business, or do you need to invest in tactics that can help you increase your leads first?

Answering these questions will help you pinpoint your goals and make great use of your email design. Not to mention how easy it will be to customize your email marketing messages down the line after that.

Personalize and Segment

To ensure you know who you’re emailing, you should invest in tools that can help you group your audience into segments and then personalize your marketing message.

It would be great if your first step were to study your audience and your competitors’ audience and understand its buying behavior. What makes them purchase a product that is similar or identical to yours? What are their goals? In the end, how can you be of more use than a competitor?

See how your audience interacts with your brand and your competitors, and take a good look at your data to make educated guesses. After that, segment your audience into smaller groups. Utilize a tool that uses AI and machine learning and could distinguish patterns that a human couldn’t.

That way, you can take even the smaller patterns into advantage and craft a message that will boost your 2022 email marketing strategies and will minimize the possibility of human error.

After that, start personalizing. Here’s why:

email marketing personalization momentum digital 2022

Since customers are more likely to invest in a brand that not only knows them by name but recognizes their buying habits and can offer them just the experience they were going for, personalization seems like the way to go. In this case, you can use data and dynamic content to make spot-on suggestions. But more on that in a tick.

Establish Your Content

Email marketing is nothing without a solid content strategy. And while it’s too tempting for brands to go with a very simplistic or an overly artistic design, you need to find out what works for you before deciding on the template that serves your 2022 email marketing strategies.

Your content should be unanimous and reflect your brand’s values. Your tone of voice should be unique and memorable, and it should be evident across all of your email marketing messages.

However, remember that not all mediums serve the same purpose. A unanimous brand tone doesn’t mean unchanging. Adapt your message to the platform you’re using, and create content accordingly.

If you find yourself in a creative rut, don’t hesitate to repurpose some content. You can create newsletters based on long-form blog posts or create sequences that will be promoting what’s new and what’s up and coming on your website.

If you’re unsure of what your content should entail, don’t hesitate to create surveys that will help you understand your audience’s preferences better.

At this stage, let me tell you a thing or two about dynamic content. You can use dynamic content to create a marketing message that will be spot on and unique to each opener. By default, dynamic content can change according to the recipient, offering specific experiences and suggestions to each individual.

Use custom fields and change one key component for each recipient. It could be anything from their location to their age. Then, make targeted suggestions with just one email.

And something else to consider: Don’t skip the power of mobile optimization:

2022 email marketing strategies open rate by device momentum digital

This should be a given by now, and you need to make great use of the impulsive nature of a sale. This means that your audience won’t feel too good with broken elements in your emails. And they’ll probably forget to open it from a desktop device down the line.

Also, never forget the power of video in your email marketing content. This may be a little trickier since not all email clients support video, but it’s worth it down the line. Explainer videos, “How-To” s, and video testimonials could add a more personal and engaging tone to your email marketing strategies.

The Essential Metrics

Once you’ve established the type of content you’d like to produce and the segments that will receive each type of email, it’s time to ensure you’ve got the metrics you want to track sorted out.

Let’s see what those are.

Email Opens

Your open rate could be considered a vanity metric. However, this is not the case. Your email opens show how many subscribers opened your email campaign.

While this metric is not directly tied to your sales conversion rate, as it’s a top-of-funnel performance metric, it can show you how strong your brand is, how you perform in terms of brand loyalty, and the elements you could improve.

Click-Through Rate (CTR)

This is the number of subscribers who clicked on a link in your email, which means that they spent time scanning through your content and were convinced by your CTAs.

Improving your email body copy and your visuals can improve your CTR as well. Make sure to use actionable verbs and A/B test if you’re not certain about the elements that would perform better.

Pro Tip: Don’t A/B test many things all at once. If you want to know how your email gathered a good CTR, make sure to change one key component at a time.

Email Conversion Rate

This is the metric most marketers focus on. It’s indicative of how many subscribers proceeded with a purchase after receiving your email. Of course, this metric isn’t about standalone numbers but about the evolution of your rate.

In this case, asking for feedback from people who purchased through your emails would be pretty important, mainly to help you understand why the numbers change.

You can send out a questionnaire to your previous customers and gather data that can be examined in tandem with your analytics. This will help you make informed decisions down the line, especially when it comes to the elements you’d like to change about your email marketing strategies.

Email Unsubscribe Rate

Ideally, you would want this rate to be less than 1%, but that is not entirely possible.

Ensure that the rate with which users opt out of your list is lower than that of your subscribers, as you need to make up for the loss of leads. Of course, this doesn’t mean that people who hit the unsubscribe button can stay on your email list. It also doesn’t mean that it’s their fault. There are plenty of reasons a user will unsubscribe from an email list, and one of them is the rate at which a brand’s emails end up in the spam folder.

Again, analyze your data and take a good look at your content. Maybe you use spam trigger words, or maybe there are just too many broken elements in your design.

The Takeaway

A good email marketing strategy is not easy to achieve, but it’s not impossible either.

Just make sure to create content that is targeted and can elicit an emotional response, and invest in tools that will boost your segmentation and personalization efforts.

Increase Traffic Using Google My Business for Local SEO in 6 Steps

how to increase traffic using google my business for local seo in 6 easy steps

Why Google Business Profile (GBP) Matters for Local SEO

Dominate local search and get more calls, clicks, and customers with these 6 proven steps to optimize your Google Business Profile for Local SEO.

Momentum Digital is a marketing agency that supports small businesses!

  • Follow these 6 Steps to Increase Web Traffic Using Google My Business
  • OR CONTACT US by clicking the button below & we can answer them for you!

If you’re a local business owner looking to drive more traffic to your website, store, or phone line, Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) is still one of the most powerful — and underutilized — tools available.

Google uses your profile to decide whether or not to show your business to local customers searching for what you offer. If it’s complete, verified, and consistently updated, your business is far more likely to rank in the local 3-pack — the top results shown under the map on Google Search.

using Google My Business for Local SEO stats

What is Google Business Profile?

Your Google Business Profile (GBP) is your business’s official listing on Google. It shows up when users search for your business, industry, or services nearby — whether on Search or Google Maps. Think of it as the digital version of the Yellow Pages, but smarter, faster, and tailored for search intent.

So, let’s dive into the 6 easy steps to increase traffic using Google My Business for Local SEO.

6 easy steps to increase traffic using gmb for local seo infographic needmomentum

6 Steps to Increase Traffic Using Google Business Profile

1. Set Up or Claim Your Profile

  • Search your business name to see if a profile already exists (especially if you’ve been around a while or changed addresses).

  • If you see your business listed, click “Claim this business.”

  • If not, create a new profile at business.google.com.

  • Use high-resolution logos and cover photos, ideally in PNG format.

  • Make sure your business name, address, and phone number (NAP) match exactly what’s listed on your website.

Bonus Tip: Mismatched information across platforms (Google, Yelp, Facebook, etc.) confuses Google and hurts your rankings.

2. Verify Your Location and Identity

Verification is required before your profile goes live. Depending on your business type, you’ll verify via:

  • Postcard (most common)

  • Phone or email

  • Video verification or live video call (used more frequently in 2025)

Once verified, your business is eligible to appear in local searches and on Google Maps.

Pro Tip: Each physical location needs its own verified profile. Manage all from one Business account if you have multiple stores or service areas.

3. Complete All Business Information Thoroughly

Accuracy = trust = rankings.

  • Choose the most accurate primary business category

  • Add secondary categories if relevant

  • List your services and products in full detail

  • Write a compelling business description (use keywords naturally, no stuffing)

  • Include updated hours, website, and booking links

  • Turn on messaging if you want to receive direct customer inquiries

Local SEO Bonus: List your services both on your GBP and your website to reinforce topic relevance in search.

4. Post Regularly & Upload Photos Weekly

Fresh activity tells Google your business is active and engaged.

  • Add 2–3 new photos weekly (interior, team, services, products, events)

  • Post updates at least 2–3 times per week

  • Highlight promos, events, product features, FAQs, or customer wins

  • Include your target location in the captions and posts for local ranking boosts

Real photos outperform stock images. Show your storefront, staff, behind-the-scenes — build trust through transparency.

5. Collect and Respond to Reviews Consistently

Reviews are one of the top local ranking factors.

  • Ask happy customers to leave reviews via text, email, or QR code

  • Make it easy: link to your review page or use Google’s short review link

  • Aim for 1–3 new reviews per week

  • Respond to all reviews — good or bad — with genuine, helpful replies

  • Include keywords and your service area in replies when relevant

Google not only reads reviews, but also analyzes sentiment and keywords mentioned in them to determine what your business is known for.

6. Keep Your NAP, Services & Site Synced

Consistency across your Name, Address, and Phone (NAP) on every platform is essential.

  • Make sure your website’s header, footer, and contact pages all list NAP exactly as it appears on your Google profile

  • Use structured data (Schema) to mark up your NAP and services for Google

  • If anything changes — address, hours, phone — update it everywhere, including:

    • Google Business Profile

    • Website

    • Social media pages

    • Yelp, Bing, Apple Maps, and directories

Bonus Tips for Dominating Local Search
  • Use relevant keywords and geo-modifiers in posts, services, and review responses

  • Create location-specific service pages on your website that match what’s listed in your GBP

  • Upload videos — especially short clips of your services, staff, or customer testimonials

  • Enable appointment booking or chat if applicable

  • Track performance with Google Insights inside your profile to see where views and calls are coming from

Final Thoughts: Local SEO Starts with Your Google Business Profile

Optimizing your Google Business Profile is hands-down the fastest and most cost-effective way to boost your local SEO.

Whether you’re a service provider, brick-and-mortar store, or hybrid business, this is your opportunity to show up in the right place, at the right time, for the right customer.

Going Digital?

This is the way to go if you want to scale or grow your business in 2022. According to Opt-In Monster “So far, 69% of Americans have shopped online, and 25% of Americans shop online at least once per month. The majority (59%) of these shoppers bought clothing items, and 47% bought their first item on Amazon.”

Check this cool graph by Statista and Oberlo.

Therefore, riding the digital wave is essential for your business. At least half of the country is shopping online! It is easy to be online and requires little to no investment. Having a strong digital presence will grant your business access to a new market. You’ll have new lead sources and new consumers to reach. You will be able to grow your business by targeting mass audiences, without spending millions.

E-commerce and online shopping improve User Experience, which is THE TREND to watch and strategy to apply for 2022. UX, or User Experience is highly customizable and automated through various tools and platforms. And, even if you don’t have the time, a team like Momentum can help you with this.

Grow Your Business in 2022

1. Turning your Business into an E-commerce Site

What is E-commerce?

E-commerce, or electronic commerce, is the buying and selling of goods or services electronically on the internet. It can also refer to other online activities, such as auctions, ticketing and banking. Today, e-commerce can help your business grow and stay relevant.

“In the United States alone, e-commerce sales are expected to surpass $740 billion by 2023.” – Big Commerce.

Here’s how to turn your model (product or service) into an E-commerce site to help your business grow:

  • Define well what your product or service is.
  • Find a way to make your services or products easy to buy on the internet.
  • Set a goal. The best practice is for visits to end in Conversions, meaning online purchases. So the ideal goal is for users to complete transactions online, and become consumers.
  • Build a site where your consumers feel comfortable. Personalized even. The e-commerce site should always be easy to navigate, fast loading and fun to shop in. Intuitive to their behaviors, without being too invasive. So, get some tracking set up and automations that improve UX on your site. All of this is doable on an e-commerce platform.

E-commerce Platforms

  • An e-commerce platform is a software application that allows online businesses to manage their website, marketing, sales and operations.

There are three main e-commerce platform options:

  • Open-Source.
  • SaaS (software-as-a-service).
  • Headless commerce.

Of these, Saas is the most popular and easy. Software-As-A-Service platforms facilitate commercial transactions, product detail and web design. Designing a website, making it look professional and adding product pictures with details may not be your thing. Hire us!

Some of the best Saas platforms for e-commerce business include:

Shopify

Shopify is an easy to customize platform, with hundreds of free templates and thousands of resources. It offers easy app and widget integration. It is heavily built around design and shopping experience. If you lack creativeness, need easy integration with a variety of software, and want personalized experiences, Shopify might be the platform for your business. It is also well known for its support and customer service.

Squarespace

They are best known for their work with the creative community. Their e-commerce platform was spurred off by a need from that creative community for a light-weight cart (including cart recovery) to sell items. It is ideal for low SKU volumes and out of the box sites. Art inspired, yet sometimes technical, e-commerce platform.

Wix

Wix is best known for keeping it simple with a drag-and-drop interface. Wix is most often used by entrepreneurs and small business owners. It is easy to edit, user friendly and straightforward. The platform prides itself on being a solution for both beginners and experts who seek ease with little or no design background.

These platforms will help with overall UX. For more information about User Experience in 2022, check out this article by Forbes.

2. SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is the process of optimizing pages with keywords to match the target audience. In this case, the target audience, or user, is searching on a platform like Google. The goal with SEO is to target words and phrases that those users are typing when searching for your product or service online. All of this is organic, or “Free” traffic. SEO isn’t going anywhere so it’s definitely important to grow your business in 2022.

Do a technical site audit and repair any issues. There’s software made for this. Run a report and make adjustments. Especially speed. Let us know if you need help or a FREE Marketing Audit.

Local SEO includes searches limited by a location. Targeting these searches is much easier because competition is smaller in a segmented portion of the market. Adding local keywords and Google My Business is a great way to improve Local SEO. Don’t know how? Here’s a video we’ve prepared for you for Google My Business and Local SEO.

And here’s a video guide of our SEO services to Help Grow Your Business:

3. Get Help Creating Content

To be in this game, and win, you will need content. And content needs designing. Web banners, profile pictures, promo offers, etc. Your business will need Design Tools to make it. Creating content takes time, effort, inspiration and wit.

But there’s a ton of apps and online software that already do that!

Here is a list of free tools for designing content to help Grow Your Business in 2022.

4. Social Media

Yep, this again.

There is no escaping Social Media if you want to scale your business. For example, here are some social media statistics according to StatusBrew:

  • Active social media users have passed the 4.55 billion mark.
  • The average daily usage of social media is 2 hours and 27 minutes.
  • Facebook has 2895 million MAU (monthly active users).
  • Instagram has 1393 million MAU.
  • Twitter has 363 million MAU.
  • Pinterest has 454 million MAU.
  • YouTube has 2291 million MAU.

Check out this cool infographic by StatusBrew.

Your business needs an online presence, and that is a fact. Social Media profiles would be a place to start. “In 2020, the average daily time spent on social media by U.S. users amounted to 65 minutes.” – Statista. For most people, the time spent on those platforms is even more. Social Media channels have evolved to become a heaven for consumption, especially media. Gossip spreads like a pandemic in Social Media, viral content is shared throughout the world, becoming global knowledge. Globalization has been made in part possible thanks to social media. It is so normalized now, but it takes seconds for information to travel the world!

This is why Social Media is so important for Brands and companies. It brings your business closer to its consumers. It keeps an open communication channel to your audience. You can keep them informed about your business and services, share relevant content, and even advertise to selected audiences.

Currently, that is exactly how Social Media is reshaping commerce and UX. User experience is quickly becoming the most important trait to have for E-commerce businesses. UX is about making the shopping experience a seamless and enjoyable journey. Consumers want value, confidence and ease when shopping. And users crave valuable experiences. From the moment they search for a product, to when they research a brand on Social Media, all the way to the check-out page after making a purchase on an e-commerce site.

The relationship between Social Media and user experience is so important, that having social media profiles with updated content help with your site’s SEO rankings

Social Media will give your business exposure. You will have the opportunity to directly connect with your consumers. This is the opportunity to create a community, increase brand awareness and establish trust.

You do not need a website to create social media profiles. It’s fairly simple and easy. Research and select a handful of channels, keep profiles updated, post often and make the content experience a bonus for your audience.

5. Scheduling, Reporting and Automation

You can either post manually each piece of content, or use an app, or software that manages this for you. With the Social Media shopping boom, scheduling platforms have gotten better and more efficient. Most, allow for personalized reports, multi-channel scheduling, and posting.

These apps often offer integration and automation with other software like email marketing. Some of the best tools out there include:

  • Facebook Business Manager

This is a must. This will allow you to manage all of the aspects of your Facebook Page and Facebook Ads. Including Instagram. It offers better segmentation, budget control, and customizable audiences when targeting Facebook and Instagram ads.

  • Later

Easy drag and drop or manually schedule posts on multiple channels. Automatically publish content. Plan your posts visually and track their performance with reports. Later has got some of the best stuff out there.

  • Loomly

Its main sale is teamwork. Space where many can collaborate on projects. This works best with medium sized teams or bigger.

  • Monday

This is a fairly new comer to the scheduling tool business. But its project management and organizational tools are useful.

  • Hootsuite

It is a solid classic and dependable software that offers a variety of solutions for your social media needs.

What you need to know to Design Facebook & Instagram ads.

Winter is coming. Well, besides the snowstorm hitting the Northeast this week (and a failed pun), Meta implemented its new Facebook ad guidelines and targeting exclusions for iOS14.

And later this year, Meta is rolling out restrictions for Android too.

Social media ads on channels like Facebook and Instagram are going to be competitive for e-commerce businesses in 2022.

Yet, many already find platforms like Facebook Ads Manager and Facebook Business Manager complicated. But the updates keep rolling in, and change is the only constant. Ultimately, making it harder to navigate the professional platforms for businesses. (Let us know if you need help with this.)

But don’t worry, Team Momentum has got your back.

Since March 19th, advertising AID and other identifiers for data tracking will be limited for users on iOS 14. “Apple made the tracking of personal data ‘opt-in’ with its IOS 14 release. As of September 2021, only around 21% of consumers have opted in to allow app tracking. Google is limiting identifiers in Android in late 2021.” – The Fast Move

Users, consumers, visitors and PEOPLE want to be treated like humans, not data. This includes a desire for privacy about what they do with their devices, specially in offline events. It is likely that your targeted facebook user doesn’t want you and your pixel tracking their every move. In and out of a platform, like Social Media, without explicit consent.

There is a need for users to feel like they can trust advertisers and brands with their data. That means they do not want to feel like your e-commerce company is a “Peeping Tom” for their consumer behavior.

As a result, we want to pay special attention to this 2022 trend when you Design Facebook and Instagram Ads.

Where there is a problem, there is always opportunity.

Solution

As marketers, we forget that EMPATHY is the force that drives the connection between the companies we advertise using Facebook Ads, and their clients.

It is a relationship that should be valued and respected.

facebook and instagram 2022

Now, social media users are very aware that platforms, like Facebook & Instagram Ads, have been monetizing their data and behavior. On and off platform. PPC social media ads have invaded their feeds using data they had no knowledge was being shared, and used to exploit their consumer behavior. Advertisers have been using the consumer’s device to spy on them and make money based on the information collected.

Wouldn’t you feel invaded, too?

As a consequence, this has proven to cause distrust among consumers. We believe it is the reason behind “Marketing Blindness”, or the habit of ignoring promotions like Facebook and Instagram ads. Target audiences are developing an “immunity” to modern marketing efforts.

Users don’t like being sold to, they like being acknowledged. Seen. Recognized.

So, let’s work on the message: Creating Facebook and Instagram Ads. Meaning, how we communicate what we sell. As an improvement to the user’s life.

Your goal is to communicate that efficiently, as quickly as possible. And we mean “in the blink of an eye” speed.

Market WITH people, not AT them. – Seth Godin

Therefore, we need to change the way we think about advertising and marketing. Including Facebook and Instagram Ads. We have to learn to CONNECT with our audiences through paid campaigns.

How? By offering solutions to user’s problems in a personalized manner. Using empathy and studying their personas. Good advertising requires understanding what the targeted user needs, and delivering that message in a way that connects with them.

When users see your Facebook and Instagram ad, they should immediately think: “Wow, that’s super cool and useful”. Instead of: “how do ‘they’ know I was talking about vacuums yesterday with my mom.” I bet it has happened to you. Or seen it happen to a friend. We are the metaphorical ‘they’. We are the marketer and advertisers trusted with user data.

If we want to keep the attention of our target audience, let’s act with respect and empathy. When marketing messages to users so they feel less invaded, and more appreciated. They crave improved UX, or User Experience. In order to do this, you need to SEE your e-commerce business product or service from their perspective.

In 2022, consumers want to go into a book store and have it arranged according to their preferences in subjects and authors. Personalized. Each user is special, and they should feel like the message, or in this case your Facebook & Instagram ads, were designed specifically for them.

Ideally, this is how data and tracking should be used in Digital Marketing today. Humanity. For better UX.

In order to do this you need empathy. The ability to see things from someone else’s perspective and understand (without necessarily sharing) their want or need for something.

Intro: Three Ways to Promote in Facebook + Instagram ads

Our town, own rules.

The official Facebook Business blog lists as two main options to advertise on their Facebook platform (that mind you, is now called ‘Meta’, as in Metaverse).

We like to think of it as three. For instance, Facebook and Instagram are two different channels but owned by the same company, now Meta. There IS two ways to Advertise on Facebook AND there is a third way to advertise on Instagram only.

Why include Instagram then if it’s a different channel? Because visually, the ads mostly share the same attributes and aesthetics. Same rules. You can even advertise and schedule content on both Facebook and Instagram Ads inside Meta’s platform.

So, here are the THREE ways to promote your e-commerce business when you Design Facebook and Instagram Ads:

Intro

There are three Ways to Promote your E-commerce Business posts with Facebook & Instagram Ads.

  • Boost Post on Facebook (screen shots)
    • Just click the “Boost Post Button” under the post you’d like to promote. (screenshot)
    • Preview Your Ad
    • Check Your Insights to make sure it’s content worth spending bucks on.
    • Specify your goal. What do you hope to achieve by promoting this post?
      • Currently, these are the options available on Facebook Ads

    • Click the blue “Boost Post” button under the post.
    • Select one:
      • Boost Post with a Facebook Ads account from which you want to manage this post, including payment methods and more.
      • Boost Post without a Facebook Ads account. (we will select the second for this example).
    • Select a Goal
      • More Profile Visits
      • More Website Visits
      • More Messages
    • Edit the URL and Call to Action Button.
    • Set your Audience
      • Automatic
      • Create Your Own
    • Set your budget for the promoted post
    • Review and click the blue “Boost Post” button at the end of the page.
  • Create and Manage Campaigns using Facebook Business’ Ads Manager.
    • This requires more studying and familiarization with Facebook Ads platform. The steps are basically the same, but the features, segmentations, and tracking options are much more useful if you plan to keep using Facebook and Instagram Ads as part of your PPC campaign strategy.

Designing a successful Facebook & Instagram ad

Select a “Color Palette” and fonts for Designing your Social Media ads. This is sometimes called a branding kit. Browse online for help getting the attention of your audience. Color psychology is a really good tool to use when choosing a color schema.

Keep this branding kit in hand when designing, and stick to the colors and fonts selected. This consistency is essential for successful brand awareness, customer retention and conversion campaigns.

Free Tools for Facebook and Instagrams Ads: Templates and Graphic Design

As a small to medium sized business, you can’t always hire a professional graphic designer. Momentum Digital highly recommends using a professional service for graphic design. A lot depends on it, so look at it as an investment. Especially with good ROIs.

But, in case you are doing this social media ad design journey solo, here are some good free tools that offer free templates:

CANVA

This is our personal favorite. It simplifies graphic design and content creation. User friendly and very useful. In Canva, you can share designs with teams, specific people or create folders. You can choose to start a design from scratch, or browse hundreds of free templates.

Use your branding kit to select colors and fonts, or even better, create the kit in Canva.

CRELLO

We recommend this tool specially for social media ads with animations or videos. The online design software Crello is now Vista Create. It has great reviews and it is well known for variety, customization, and support. It offers steady graphics and animations that play stunningly.

DESIGN WIZARD

For example, Design Wizard has over a thousand fully licensed templates to use for Facebook and Instagram ads in 2022. And it integrates automations with platforms like Buffer, HubSpot and Marketo. This is a great option for helping design a successful Facebook and Instagram ad.
