Looking to Design a Website on a Budget? Here are the Best Tools to Use for Small Business Web Design!

affordable website design options

Momentum Digital is a market leader when it comes to Web Design on a Budget, with prices starting at $1250+.

Your website is often the first impression your business makes. In fact, a Forbes article explains how 75% of consumers admit to judging a company’s credibility based on its website.

However, building a website can get expensive. When you’re launching or running a small business, every dollar counts—and dropping thousands on a fancy site just isn’t always realistic.

The good news? You don’t need a design degree, custom code, or a big budget to put up a website. In fact, you can build something beautiful, functional, and totally professional-looking without breaking the bank. There are so many tools and resources online that can help you jumpstart your online journey – all you need to do is figure out which ones work the best for you.

But before we dive into the tools themselves, let’s talk about why having a website still matters in 2025.

Why a Website Still Matters in 2025

Even with social media dominating attention spans, your business still needs a home base. Here’s why:

  • It’s your digital storefront. It’s often the first place potential customers visit to learn about your business, services, or products—anytime, anywhere.
  • It builds trust and credibility. A professional-looking website signals legitimacy. In fact, consumers are far more likely to trust businesses with a polished, current site. Read more on why every small business needs a website
  • You own it. Unlike your social media profiles, your website is your permanent online property.
  • It centralizes your marketing. All your digital touch points—from Instagram to email newsletters—should lead back to your website, where you can guide visitors to take action.
  • It provides measurable insights. With tools like Google Analytics, you can track how people find and engage with your business—and make improvements from there.

Do you know the best part? Modern website builders make it easier than ever to create a sleek site—no coding required. Now let’s talk about how to choose the right tool to bring your website to life without blowing your budget.

what is web design?

How to Optimize Shopify Products for E-commerce Marketing

Increase product visibility and sales: Learn how to Optimize Shopify Products for E-commerce Marketing.

FREE VIDEO TUTORIAL: How to Optimize Shopify Products for E-commerce Marketing.

Would you like to learn how to have your Shopify product catalog available for shopping on Facebook and Google? Shopify’s Google’s Sales Channel integrates Google’s Merchant Center with your Shopify store, allowing your products to be shopped from Google Search, Google My Business, Google Ads, Facebook and Instagram’s Feed. Here, you will learn How to Optimize Shopify Products for E-commerce Marketing and make products visible on Google, Facebook, and Instagram sales channels.

In 2021 assigning product categories to each item was not necessary for your products to sync to Google. Now on 2022, the game has changed. But Team Momentum has your back so you can crush online sales and reach.

With new market trends and Google cracking down on offering the most accurate information, it is important to stay up to date. More importantly, the more sales channels your products are available on, the merrier.

Each sales channel has its own market, demographics, psychographics etc. And each one provides a unique opportunity to increase product reach of new potential consumers. Here, you will learn here how to sync your Shopify Catalog to Make Your Shopify Products Shoppable on Google.

Google’s Merchant Center requires you now to select a Google product category along with other details from Shopify’s product page, so your catalog syncs.

Any product missing this category and fields will no longer appear on Google Searches, on Facebook, Instagram Shop, or on your Google My Business Listing.

So let’s fix that issue so your products are visible to a much bigger audience, available to Shop on Google, and therefore, increase sales.

Make Sure You have Google’s Sales Channel Installed in Your Shopify Store

When you set up the Google channel on Shopify for the first time, all of the products that are available to your online store are automatically synced with Google Merchant Center.

You can change the availability of a product manually or in bulk for several products.

To set up Shopify’s Google sales channel, you need to have a Google account and a Google Merchant Center account. Follow these steps to set up Google Sales Channel:

Google Merchant Center is a tool that helps you upload your store and product data to Google and make them available for Google Smart Shopping campaigns and other Google services. – Google Merchant Center.

A Google Merchant Center account needs to be associated with a verified domain. That domain cannot be associated with another Google account. This is important if you want to Optimize Shopify Products for E-commerce Marketing.

Store Requirements for Google Sales Channel on Shopify

To use the Google channel, you need to make sure that your online store meets the Google Merchant Center requirements:

  • You need a Shopify online store, and your store can’t be password-protected.
  • You need to add a valid payment provider in your Shopify admin.
  • You need to add a Refund Policy and Terms of Service to your online store.
  • You need to add your contact information to a page in your online store, and the information needs to be visible to customers.
  • You need to include at least 2 contact methods.

Product Requirements for Google’s Merchant Center

Providing product category information can help customers browse and search for your store’s products on Instagram and Facebook. It can increase your store’s discoverability, and help improve your ad performance.

In order to optimize Shopify Products for E-commerce Marketing, Google requires specific information about your products before you can publish them on Google. The Google channel imports your existing product data from Shopify, but you might need to add some additional information before you can sync products with Google Merchant Center.

Most products only need the following information added:

While other products also require additional details:

  • Gender
  • Age Group
  • Condition

Google has specific requirements for the following categories:

  • Apparel & accessories
  • Media
  • Books

Product options, including variants, need to be in English to sync with Google.

Google Product Category

To make sure that your products are categorized accurately on Google, you should add a Google Product Category to products.

Google has specific requirements for products that are in the Apparel & accessories, Media, or Books Google Product Categories. When you select a category for a product in the Google channel, you need to add this additional product information.

Read Google’s guide to product categories to learn more.

Unique product identifiers

Google requires you to have a unique product identifier for each of your products.

If these identifiers aren’t correct, then Google doesn’t publish your products and your account could be suspended. Learn more about unique product identifiers from Google Merchant Center Help.

If a product has a GTIN (Global Trade Item Number), then you need to add it before you can publish the product.

For products without a GTIN, you need to add an MPN (Manufacturer Part Number) and brand to the product data in the Google channel. Some categories allow for “custom product”, and in some cases, these do not need a GTIN nor MPN.

Edit Products and Add Categories to Optimize Shopify Products for E-commerce Marketing

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Google.
  2. On the Overview page, go to the Product feed section.
  3. Besides a product status, click the link to view your synced products in a bulk editor.
  4. Click Edit Google fields.
  5. Optional: If your product doesn’t have a GTIN or MPN because it’s a custom product, then check This is a custom product.
  6. Optional: In the Product categorization section, add a Google Product Category.
  7. Optional: Add custom labels for Age, Gender, or Condition.
  8. Click Save.

You can also edit each product individually by clicking “Manage” on the sales channels for that item.

Having all your products available on sales channels like Google, will increase visibility, reach, sessions and conversions. You will be able to tag products from your catalog on ads, Facebook, and Instagram posts. Your audience will be able to shop your products directly from their Facebook feed, your Instagram Shop, or from Google My Business.

So, if you want to step up your online store’s game by increasing reach and sales, it is important to learn How to Optimize Shopify Products for E-commerce Marketing. Now, you products will be available to tag and shop on main channels like Google, Instagram, and Facebook.

How to Improve Product SEO in Shopify

Momentum Digital is a marketing agency that supports small businesses.

One of the most important factors of getting your Shopify store to rank higher in search results is Product SEO. In this article, we’re going to cover the four most important aspects of product optimization so you can understand How to Improve Product SEO in Shopify. We’ll be covering the ideal Product Title, Product Description, Product Meta Title and Product Meta Description.

Why is Product SEO in Shopify so Important?

And if you didn’t know already, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, which focuses on enhancing your products and website to rank your focus keywords higher on Google.

product seo metaphor

I’ll try to convey the importance of Product SEO in Shopify using a corny metaphor. Bear with me. I want you to imagine a large forest with trees of various heights. The tree that represents your website is the smallest tree, hidden beneath the canopy of the larger trees.

The trunk of that tree is your website and the leaves are all of your products. In order for that tree to grow, you’ll need as much sunlight and water as possible. That sunlight is equivalent to the consumers you’re targeting. The water is Google. In order for the sunlight to reach your leaves, you’ll need your tree to grow taller than the others, and you’ll need lots of water for your tree to grow.

In other words, if you want the consumer to find your products, you’ll need your products to rank higher. In order for your products to rank higher, you’ll need SEO. Without SEO, Google won’t water your tree, and your leaves will never see the sunlight.

In conclusion, to get your products in front of your consumers, you’ll need Product SEO to get your products ranking higher in Google. To see how this is done, watch the video above and read on.

1. Product Title

The Product Title is your store’s first impression to the consumer. It should be as informative and attractive as possible without being too long or keyword stuffed. This section of SEO in Shopify requires a delicate balance, which can take some time to master.

What Makes a Great Product Title?

A great Product Title includes information that will appeal to the consumer, but also describe your product in a concise manner. For example, if your product is a pair of sparkly jeans, don’t name them “Blue Sparkle Pants” name them something like “Sparkly Blue Jeans”, with “Blue Jeans” being the keyword.

2. Product Description

The Product Description section in Shopify is one that can be difficult to perfect. This section needs to include information about your product but doesn’t necessarily need keywords unless it’s absolutely necessary for the description. The most important thing to consider when writing the product description is relevance and customization. You’ll need the description to be captivating. The longer a visitor stays on that product page, and the higher the conversion rate, the higher your product will rank.

3. Product Meta Title

The Product Meta Title is arguably the most important aspect of Product SEO in Shopify. The meta title is how your product is represented in Google Search results. Essentially, it’s your digital product display. It needs the perfect balance of keywords and wittiness to rank high in Google, but to also capture the attention of the consumer. A general format to consider is “Product Name & Keyword | Something Captivating | Store Name”. It might look something like “Sparkly Blue Jeans | Up to 20% Off | Easy Pickins”.

4. Product Meta Description

The Product Meta Description is the second piece of product meta data and must also include keywords to align with Google’s “SEO rubric”. However, while the meta title has a larger focus on keywords, the meta description allows room for more captivating copy. Your description may look something like this seen on hobbylobby.com; “You can give your crafts and projects a dazzling touch of color and festive glamour with a dusting of Blue Jeans Extra Fine Glitter!”. Their description includes my exact search terms but also captures your attention with a fun description.

Now that you know the four main aspects of Product SEO, it’s time to begin allocating some time every week to optimizing your products. 4 Best Shopify Apps for Small Businesses

Let's Review the 4 Best Shopify Apps for Small Business Owners!

Momentum Digital is back with another Marketing Blog! A small business doesn’t have to mean small profits, especially in this connected and data-driven digital age. If you’re selling products online, there’s a good chance you’re using the Shopify e-commerce platform. A plug-and-play online shopping solution to get your products online quickly and easily? What’s not to love? Here are the Top 4 Best Shopify Apps for Your Business!

One of the most powerful and incentivizing offerings from Shopify is its vast library of 3rd-party applications and software to optimize and boost your e-commerce potential (and your bottom line).

But with so many options to choose from, how can one know what app is worth the time and money to implement in his or her shop? As a digital agency focused on helping small businesses with their online presence, Momentum Digital knows what our clients need for their shops. Here are our top 4 Best Shopify Apps for small business owners!

Here is a relevant video that covers the best Shopify Apps for 2020

1. RetargetApp for Shopify

Purpose = Facebook and Instagram Automated Retargeting Ads

Cost = $15+ month + ads cost

retarget app for shopify

Did you know that around 60% of first-time website visitors will leave before buying a product? It’s because we as consumers often need time to consider a product before pulling the trigger and dropping our cash. It works in brick-and-mortar shops and is even more prominent in online shops.

Retarget marketing is a form of online advertising targeting consumers on their past actions. In many cases, it’s serving an ad to someone who visited your website but didn’t do what you wanted them to do e.g purchase something, download something etc.

RetargetApp is one of our favorite Shopify plugins that we recommend to our clients. The premise is simple: when a user visits your site and views a product or adds it to their cart, but leaves without purchasing it, they’ll be served retargeted ads on Facebook with that specific product along with up to 10 more similar items.

Setup is incredibly easy and there’s no need to manage the ads in Facebook Business Manager as you would normally. You set your description and pay after you make some sales (maximum of 5%).

We’re seeing some incredible returns using this app with ROAS as high as 25x on some accounts for Facebook Ads.

2. Mailchimp - Email Marketing with Shopify

Purpose = Automated Email Marketing with Shopify

Cost = FREE & Premium Plans

shopify mailchimp

Chances are that you’ve heard of MailChimp, but the Shopify integration is a must-have if your eCommerce shop is running the platform. Email marketing is integral to sustaining an effective eCommerce strategy. The right email to the right person at the right time can make or break a sale. We could have a whole blog post about email marketing, but let’s focus on MailChimp for Shopify.

Aside from all the existing functionality of MailChimp (which offers a lot of great features right off the bat), the Shopify app will let you do things like sync purchase data, setup marketing automation emails for abandoned carts, and segment customers based on their purchase behavior.

Another sweet feature is the option to add e-commerce link tracking to your email campaigns. Knowing exactly who clicks an email link to your shop, what they do on your site, and also what they didn’t do on your site is invaluable data. Know how to use it!

The app is free if you’re only looking to sync your existing MailChimp account to your Shopify store, but unlocking the additional features comes with a (fair) price tag.

3. Yotpo - Social Proof Marketing

Purpose = Automated Social Proof & Reviews

Cost = FREE & Premium Plans

yotpo shopify

At the very core of consumer psychology is the desire for our shopping habits to be confirmed and validated by both ourselves and our peers. We want our purchases to be informed and free of regret. Check out these two statistics:

  1. Over 70% of Americans say they look at product reviews before making a purchase – (source)
  2. Nearly 63% of consumers indicate they are more likely to purchase from a site if it has product ratings and reviews – (source)

Yotpo is a customer marketing platform that generates reviews and user-generated content from customers. You can then leverage this “social proof” to further inform potential customers that their purchase will be worthwhile as it was for previous buyers.

The free plan includes some pretty cool features like review request emails, review widgets, UGC moderation, and more. The paid “Growth” and “Premium” plans up the ante with advanced widgets, shoppable Instagram plugins, and Google Seller ratings.

3. Alt Text Optimizer - Fix Your Images

Purpose = Fix SEO Image Attributes

Cost = $1.99 per month

seo alt text optimizer

Admittedly, this isn’t the most “fun” Shopify plugin perse (no offense to any SEOs who just love image alt text). However, SEO is incredibly important for any website and that goes triple for ecommerce websites.

This plugin lets you create an automated Alt Text naming convention for all the images on your site. Once done correctly and the Google SEO paragons are satisfied, you’ll reap the rewards of boosted search engine rankings and traffic from Google Image searches.

Not to mention, you’ll be optimizing your website so people with visual or hearing disabilities will be able to properly view your shop’s content!

This rounds out the Best 4 Shopify Apps for Business owners!
