What are Google Ads?

Google Ads allows businesses of all sizes to advertise on their platform using various types of ad formats and targeting. Previously known as Google Adwords, this ad platform allows business to bid on keywords for their ads to trigger for search results, known as search ads.

Other Google Ads formats include Google Display ads, which uses text and image ads on various websites and online networks. YouTube ads and Gmail ads are also growing in popularity.

The non-search Google Ads allow you to target potential customers based on demographics, interests, location and more! Here at Momentum, we strong suggest certain Google Ads types depending on the business and their budget. Our Founder Mac Frederick started this agency after working at Google in the Small Business Department of Google Ads.

How do Google Ads Work?

Google Ads works as an auction bidding and advertising system. This means businesses compete to rank at the top of Google for specific search terms that they'd like to advertise and show up for on Google. As an advertiser you can control your budget and how much you want to spend on the ads.

This is the most popular and common type of advertisement with Google and uses an auction-based bidding system that costs you money on a pay-per-click basis. The cost of the ad depends on the quality score of your ads and keywords, and how competitive your keywords or targeting are for the auction.

It's free to sign up for an account. If you're new to Google Advertising please be careful as it's easy to waste money. Do your research or hire someone you trust. It's imperative to set up your account properly. You'll want to watch training videos or talk to a specialist or Google Premier Partner like Momentum to learn more.

So that sounds rather broad, right? For the sake of this topic/page, we are going to focus PPC around Google Adwords. Google Ads Account Audits

Here you can see an example of a Google Ads account audit I performed for a client in the past. So Google Ads used to be called Google Adwords back when I worked for Google. I was working in the small business sales and consulting department at Google for over a year. I was helping clients just like Phone Falcon, which is my friend’s previous business used in this example. We implemented these strategies and a few SEO marketing tactics that helped him double his business that he ended up selling to a bigger chain.

The first thing you should do with any PPC account or SEO project is started with an audit and strategy. This video is our way of auditing accounts. A video marketing audit is very thorough and action-oriented. It dives into detail and strategy from a visual perspective as well. These typically take 1 hour in total, that I summarize into a 15-minute video on YouTube if possible.
